Fire damage? Get help from a team you can trust
Before anything else, don't go back inside until the fire department says it's safe. If there's colored tape across a door or a placard from an inspector, leave it alone and wait for them to clear it.
Then call us. We answer 24/7 from our Norcross office and work in homes and businesses across Gwinnett and metro Atlanta. You don't need answers ready. We'll ask the questions and tell you what happens next.
Can we help with fire damage in your home or business?
Most likely. Fires rarely stay in one room, even when the flames do. Smoke rides the heat up and out through doorways, attic space, wall cavities and HVAC ducts. Hose water goes down. So a stove fire can leave soot on a bedroom ceiling upstairs and wet drywall in the basement.
We regularly help with:
- A kitchen or grease fire that smoked the whole house
- A fire that started in a neighbor's apartment or townhome and pushed smoke or water into yours
- Windows broken and a roof cut open by firefighters
- Rooms soaked by hose water, including floors the fire never touched
- A house fire started by a lightning strike during a storm
Each of those has its own page if you want the detail: smoke and soot cleaning, board-up and roof tarping, smoke odor removal, contents pack-out and cleaning, and sprinkler and firefighting water cleanup.

What our fire damage restoration includes
Fire recovery has to happen in order. Skip a step and the next one gets harder. Sometimes much harder.
- Safety clearance. We confirm the fire department has released the building and check the utilities. We also look up the year the house was built and send a tester in to check the air quality and take soot samples for a lab. Burned materials can release things nobody should breathe, and in an older home the debris may include asbestos or lead. We find out before our crew works inside.
- Board-up and tarping. Broken windows and doors get covered, along with holes cut in the roof, to protect against rain and theft. We can usually be out within a day once the fire department clears the house.
- Assessment and a written work plan. We photograph every room, take moisture readings and identify the type of soot. The industry fire standard, ANSI/IICRC S700, calls for a written restoration work plan, and you get a copy.
- Water removal and drying. Hose water comes out and drying starts, so it doesn't turn into a mold problem.
- Contents pack-out. Belongings that can be saved are inventoried, boxed and moved out for cleaning.
- Removal. Charred framing and soaked insulation come out, along with carpet pad and drywall that can't be cleaned.
- Soot cleaning, top down. Ceilings first, floors last, using the method each surface needs.
- HVAC cleaning. Ducts and the air handler get cleaned so they don't blow soot back into clean rooms, handled by a duct-cleaning partner we coordinate.
- Odor control and sealing, once the source is gone.
- A final evaluation before the rebuild starts, including a walk-through smell check. If residue or air testing is needed, an independent testing company we arrange does it. We never test our own jobs.
Then the reconstruction: drywall, paint, cabinets, flooring and roofing. Our own crews and our on-staff general contractor do the rebuild. We bring in licensed electricians and plumbers where the job needs them, and we pull the permits.

One contact for board-up, cleanup, contents and rebuild
A fire job can involve a board-up crew, a water mitigation team, soot cleaners, a contents company, an HVAC cleaner, an electrician and a general contractor. Without someone coordinating the work, you end up managing all of them while trying to find somewhere to sleep.
We give you one project contact. That person schedules the crews in the right order, keeps the adjuster supplied with photos and readings, and calls you when something changes. If the fire department or the county needs access, we work around them.
Two things matter here. You choose your contractor, not your insurance company. After a fire, several restoration companies may show up at your door before you've called anyone. You don't have to sign with the first one. Take their cards, read what they hand you, and pick the company you trust. And in Georgia, a contractor can't act as your public adjuster, so we won't negotiate your claim for you. We document the damage and explain the scope. You and your insurer settle the claim.

Who will arrive, and how we determine what needs attention
An IICRC-certified technician from our Norcross team walks the property with you. They'll check which rooms burned, which only got smoke, and which kind of soot is on the walls. Dry, powdery soot from wood and paper cleans differently from the sticky, smeary kind left by burned plastics. They'll take moisture readings anywhere hose water reached, including the floor below.
Then they'll tell you what can be cleaned and what has to come out, room by room, with photos. If you can't take it all in that day, that's normal. Survivors call it "fire brain." It's a real thing, and it makes paperwork feel mean. Nothing big has to be decided on the spot. We'll put it in writing so you can read it later.

Clear information about pricing, documentation and next steps
The cost depends on how big the fire was, how far the smoke traveled, how much water was used, how many belongings need packing out and how much has to be rebuilt. Before work starts, you get a written scope that's broken down room by room, not a lump sum by square footage. You approve it first.
For the claim, we provide photos, moisture readings, a contents inventory and itemized invoices in Xactimate, the format adjusters use. We bill your insurer directly. A typical homeowners policy has separate parts for the house and your belongings, plus additional living expenses like a hotel, and each has its own limit. We can't promise what your policy covers. If insurance pays less than the invoice, you're responsible for the difference. That's why documentation matters, and why it helps to use a company that works claims with every major carrier, like we do.

Questions people ask us
Should I call my insurance company or a restoration company first?
Call your insurer first and open the claim, then call us. You don't need the adjuster's permission to secure the house or stop water from spreading, and your policy expects you to prevent further damage. Keep every receipt.
Do I have to use the restoration company my insurance recommends?
No. You choose who works on your home. A preferred vendor isn't a bad choice, but it isn't required, and you're allowed to get a second opinion on the scope.
Is it safe to stay in the house after a small kitchen fire?
Not until the fire department says the house is safe and someone has checked how far the soot spread. Soot can carry harmful compounds, especially from burned plastics. Young kids, older adults and anyone with asthma should stay somewhere else until it's cleaned.
Should I throw out damaged things before the adjuster comes?
No. Photograph everything and leave it in place. Food and medicine exposed to heat, smoke or soot should go, but take a picture first so it's on the claim. Large items can wait for the adjuster.
How long does fire restoration take?
A small kitchen fire can take days to a couple of weeks. A fire that opened walls or the roof can take many months, and much of that time goes to insurance approvals and permits. We'll give you a realistic timeline once we've seen the damage, and update it if something changes.
Why did the fire department break windows and cut holes in the roof and walls?
Firefighters vent windows and roofs to let out superheated gas and smoke, and they open walls to check for fire hiding inside. It limits how far the fire spreads. We cover those openings with plywood and tarps the same day we're called.
