Storm damage? Get help from a team you can trust

Stay clear of downed power lines and any tree that's still leaning or caught in other branches. Don't climb onto the roof, especially while it's wet or the wind is still up. If you smell gas, leave and call the gas company from outside.

Then call us. We answer 24/7 from our Norcross office, not from a truck that drove in from out of state. We work across Gwinnett and metro Atlanta.

Can we help with the storm damage to your home?

Yes, for most storm damage inside a house. People usually call about:

  • A tree or limb that came through the roof
  • Rain coming in through damaged shingles, a broken window or a torn soffit
  • Ceilings and walls that got wet during a wind storm
  • A power outage that let the sump pump fail, or let humidity climb in a closed-up house
  • Shingles in the yard and a new stain spreading on the ceiling
  • Tornado damage. We've seen one come down on a neighborhood here, lift, and hit another one miles away

Storms are part of living around metro Atlanta. The weather office that covers the area logs damaging thunderstorm winds on about 19 days a year. If water rose from outside instead of coming through the roof, see our flood damage cleanup page.

Rain running off a roof edge

What our storm damage cleanup includes

  1. Stabilization first. We tarp roof openings and board up broken windows or doors. How much gets covered depends on the damage. More on that on our board-up and tarping page.
  2. Documentation. We photograph the openings and every wet area before anything is removed.
  3. Interior assessment. Moisture meters and a thermal camera show us where the water went inside ceilings, walls and floors.
  4. Water removal. We extract standing water and pull wet insulation or ceiling drywall that's sagging.
  5. Drying. Equipment runs until the readings reach a dry standard, with checks each visit.
  6. Repairs. Drywall, insulation, flooring and paint, done by our own crews and our on-staff general contractor.

Roof replacement and tree removal aren't included. Those belong to other trades. The next section explains where we fit.

Who handles the roof and tree, and who handles the inside?

A tree service takes the tree off. A roofer repairs or replaces the roof. For roof leak repairs, we can coordinate a partner that meets our standards, so you still deal with us. We protect the opening and handle the water damage inside. Your insurer decides what's covered.

The order matters: tree off, tarp on, then drying inside. We'll coordinate the timing so the house isn't left open between trades.

After a storm, you'll also meet storm chasers. Watch for:

  • Door knockers who show up hours after the storm with a contract ready
  • Requests for a large payment in cash before work starts
  • Offers to waive or "cover" your deductible
  • Promises that insurance will pay for a whole new roof
  • No local address, or out-of-state plates and phone numbers

Georgia officials warn about these exact problems. Take your time with anything permanent.

Walls opened after water came in

Who will arrive, and how we determine what needs attention

An IICRC-certified technician from our Norcross team will check the outside openings first, then work room by room inside. They'll document each opening and each wet area with photos before cleanup starts, since your adjuster will want to see the damage as it was.

What comes out depends on readings and material. Wet insulation over a ceiling usually has to go. Drywall that's dry enough to keep stays. We'll explain each call before we make it.

Sometimes the answer is annoying. Guessing is worse.

Clear information about pricing, documentation and next steps

Price depends on the size of the opening, how much water got inside, what materials are wet and how long drying takes. Emergency tarping is priced on its own, and you'll see that estimate before we go up. For the interior work, you get a written scope that you approve before we start.

We provide photos, moisture logs and an itemized Xactimate estimate, the format adjusters use. We bill your insurer directly. Insurers often treat wind or tree damage, rain through a storm-made opening and rising floodwater as separate issues, sometimes under different policies. We can't promise coverage. If insurance pays less than the invoice, you're responsible for the difference. That's why documentation matters, and why it helps to use a company that works claims with every major carrier, like we do.

Read anything you sign carefully, especially language that assigns your claim rights or insurance payments to a contractor. That includes ours.

Questions people ask us

Should I tarp the roof before the adjuster comes?

Yes. Policies expect you to take reasonable steps to keep the damage from getting worse, and a tarp is the usual step. Take photos before and after, and keep the invoice. Don't make permanent repairs until your insurer has seen the damage.

Will insurance pay for rain that came in through the roof?

Often, if wind, hail or a tree created the opening. If the roof leaked because of age or worn flashing, many policies won't. Rising water from outside is flood, which homeowners policies don't cover. Your adjuster makes the call.

The neighbor's tree fell on my house. Whose insurance pays?

Usually yours, if the tree was healthy. The neighbor may be responsible if the tree was clearly dead or dangerous beforehand. Either way, file with your own insurer and let them sort it out.

Is storm water the same as sewage-level contamination?

Not automatically. Rain coming through a roof or window is judged by what we find when we inspect it. Water from a rising creek or river is treated as contaminated. We'll tell you which applies and why.

Do contractors need a license in Georgia?

For many repair jobs over $2,500, yes. But Georgia doesn't license roofers, tree services or drywall installers, so ask anyone you hire what license they hold and for which work.

Call about storm damage today

Tell us what happened, whether water is still coming in and which rooms are affected. Photos of the roof from the ground and the wettest ceiling help. We'll confirm we can help, give you an arrival window and explain what happens first.
