Flooring Repair & Replacement After Water Damage in Norcross, GA

Hardwood cupping at the edges, LVP lifting by the dishwasher, carpet that squishes underfoot. And then the worry that new boards will never match the rest of the house. We check the subfloor first. Then we repair or replace the flooring and tell you plainly what matching can and can't do. You'll see the moisture readings behind every call.

Floors damaged by water? Get help from a team you can trust

Bad floors are hard to ignore. You walk across them every day.

Don't sand the cupped boards or glue down the lifted planks yet. Start with a no-pressure look at the floor and what's under it, before anything is torn out. We come from our Norcross office to homes across Gwinnett and metro Atlanta, and we answer 24/7.

Can we help with your floors?

Probably. Here's what we see most:

  • Hardwood cupping or buckling after a dishwasher or fridge line leak
  • "Waterproof" LVP with water trapped underneath and a musty smell
  • Laminate that swelled and peaked at the seams
  • Tile coming loose, with soft subfloor found under it
  • Wet carpet and pad spreading into the next room
  • Floors that failed again after someone already replaced them

That last one usually means the subfloor was still wet or the source never got fixed. If water is still standing, start with water extraction. If moisture is coming up from the crawl space, handle crawl space water removal first.

Damaged subfloor after flooring removal

What our flooring repair service includes

  1. Assessing each material. Hardwood, LVP, laminate, tile and carpet each fail differently.
  2. Opening it up. We pull baseboards, and for LVP or laminate we lift planks to check the subfloor.
  3. Waiting for the readings. No sanding or replacing until the wood and subfloor are back to normal.
  4. Subfloor repair. Soft or rotted sections are cut out and replaced.
  5. Acclimating new wood to the room before it goes down, so it doesn't cup later.
  6. Installation, then blending, weaving in or refinishing across continuous areas so it reads as one floor.

We replace the flooring that was damaged and match what was there as closely as we can. Drying the floor isn't part of this service; that's structural drying.

Who confirms the subfloor is dry, who installs the floor, and what matching to expect

Drying comes first. Readings prove it.

We compare subfloor readings to an unaffected area of the same house. For wood floors, the National Wood Flooring Association says the subfloor shouldn't read above 13% moisture content in hot, humid conditions like a Georgia summer, and that you never install over a known moisture problem. Only then does the new floor go in.

Matching is where people get let down, so here's the honest version. Products get discontinued, dye lots vary, and the floor you have has years of wear and sun on it. A perfect match isn't guaranteed. Your options are weaving new boards in, refinishing a continuous area so old and new take the same stain, or replacing to a natural break like a doorway. How much continuous flooring an insurer pays for depends on your policy.

Who will arrive, and how we determine what needs attention

Your flooring work is done by our own crew, not a subcontractor.

They'll measure moisture in the flooring and the subfloor, decide repair or replace by material, and confirm the leak was fixed so the floor doesn't fail again. Older homes get a check before anything comes up. 9x9 tile, sheet vinyl and black mastic can contain asbestos, so we test before removal. Sanding or grinding it is exactly what not to do.

Clear information about pricing, documentation and next steps

Price depends on the flooring material, square footage, subfloor damage, the matching approach, how far continuous flooring runs and any asbestos testing in older homes. You approve a written, itemized scope before work starts.

For a claim, we provide moisture readings, photos of the damage and of continuous flooring through doorways, and product and discontinuation records. We can't promise a match or what your insurer covers. If insurance pays less than the invoice, you're responsible for the difference. That's why documentation matters, and why it helps to use a company that works claims with every major carrier, like we do.

Questions people ask us

My hardwood cupped after a leak. Will it flatten on its own?

Often it does, once the wood and subfloor dry out fully. That can take weeks. Sanding a cupped floor before it's dry is a common mistake, because the boards can crown months later. We wait for the readings before deciding.

Is "waterproof" LVP really waterproof?

The planks may be. The floor isn't. Water runs through the seams and edges and gets trapped against the subfloor, where it can't evaporate. That's why planks often have to come up even when they look fine.

Can wet carpet be saved?

Sometimes. Carpet wet with clean water and dried quickly often can be. Carpet soaked by contaminated water, like sewage or floodwater, gets thrown out. The pad holds water much longer than the carpet, so it's almost always replaced.

Will insurance replace flooring in rooms that didn't get wet?

Sometimes, when the floor runs continuously with no transitions and the product can't be matched. It depends on your policy, and Georgia has no matching statute. We photograph the continuity and document discontinued products so you can ask your adjuster in writing.

Does the flooring manufacturer's warranty cover water damage?

Usually not. LVP and laminate warranties commonly exclude water events your homeowners policy would cover, along with the subfloor and trim. Check yours, but plan on going through insurance.
